Overview and usage
This is a dedicated API that provides a hierarchical structure including all industries and categories available for the companies in the Veridion database.
The Business category and Company industry are business classifications derived from Veridion's internal taxonomies. These classifications are generated by Veridion's proprietary Machine Learning models, resulting in the identification of approximately 200 industries and around 600 business categories.
This API was created to support your use of the Business category and Company industry filters. It allows you to obtain current data for input into the filter, enabling your search queries to remain aligned with values in our database.
"Industries" and "categories"
Veridion distinguishes between the business "industries" and business "categories" when classifying companies within our database.
- Industry - is a higher-level classification and serves as a broad indication of the general sphere of operations of the company.
Examples include IT
or Apparel
.
- Category - is a subset within an industry, and provides a more detailed description of the company's specific business activity.
For instance, within the IT
industry, you will find categories such as Cybersecurity
or Computer Stores
.
